10 góð rapplög um konur (í tilefni konudagsins)
Konudagurinn var haldinn hátíðlegur í gær 19. febrúar. Í tilefni þess tók SKE saman 10 lög sem rapparar hafa tileinkað konum (eða sem vegsama málefni kvenna að einhverju leyti) en ef eitthvað hefur smánað virðuleika rapps í gegnum tíðina þá er það hugsunarleysi, græðgi og kvenfyrirlitning – og þá sérstaklega hið síðastnefnda.
Hér fyrir neðan eru tíu lög sem hafa spornað við þessari þróun (ásamt fleiri góðum):
10. Queen Latifah – Ladies First
"We are the ones that give birth /
To the new generation of prophets because it's ladies first /"
9. Shad – Keep Shining
"There's no girls rapping so we're only hearing half the truth /
What we have to lose? Too much /
Half our youth aren't represented, the better halves of dudes /
So we don't hear about your brain, just your brains /"
8. Mos Def and Talib Kweli – Brown Skin Lady
"You fruitful, beautiful, smart, lovable, huggable
Doable like art, suitable to be part."
7. Tupac feat. Outlawz – Baby Don't Cry
"Even though it wasn't me, I could feel the grief /
Thinkin' with your brains blown that would make the pain go /
No! You got to find a way to survive /
'Cause they win when your soul dies /"
6. Salt N Pepa – None of Your Business
"If I want to take a guy home with me tonight /
It's none of your business /
And she want to be a freak and sell it on the weekend /
It's none of your business / "
5. Method Man feat. Mary J. Blige – You're All I Need
"Shorty, I'm there for you anytime you need me /
For real, girl, it's me in your world, believe me /"
4. Lauryn Hill – Doo Wop
"Girlfriend, let me break it down for you again /
You know I only say it cause I'm truly genuine /
Don't be a hard rock when you really are a gem /
Baby girl, respect is just a minimum /
Ni#%as fucked up and you still defending 'em /"
3. Common – The Light
"It's important we communicate /
And tune the fate of this union to the right pitch /
I never call you my bitch or even my boo /
There's so much in a name and so much more in you /"
2. Tupac – Keep Your Head Up
"And since we all came from a woman /
Got our name from a woman and our game from a woman /
I wonder why we take from our women /
Why we rape our women, do we hate our women?/ "
1. Tupac – Dear Mama
"And there's no way I can pay you back /
But my plan is to show you that I understand /
You are appreciated."
The Roots feat. Erykah Badu – You Got Me
"We knew from the start that /
Things fall apart and tend to shatter /
She like that shit don't matter /
When I get home get at her /"

Mommy got me training wheels so I could keep on my bike /"
Jay-Z feat. Beyoncé – Bonnie and Clyde

Put us together: How they gon' stop both us? /
Whatever she lacks, I'm right over her shoulder /
When I'm off track, mami is keepin me focused. /"
Talib Kweli – Four Women
"Her back is strong and she far from a vagabond /
This is the back of the masters' whip used to crack upon. /"
