Manntafl
Manntafl er MA útskriftarverkefni frá Royal Conservatory og Royal Academy í Haag. Verkið er reaktívur tónlisargjörningur fyrir tvo skákmenn og lúðrasveit. Tveir skákmenn tefla skák og á útitafli er lúðrasveit, helmingurinn fyrir svartan og önnur fyrir hvítan. Hljóðfæraleikararnir leika tónlist um leið og þeir færa sig um taflborðið, drepa og deyja út frá því hvernig skákin þróast. Tónlistin er byggð á algoriþmískum reglum út frá reglum í skák. Eins konar demó útgáfa af verkinu var flutt á útitaflinu við Lækjargötu á menningarnótt árið 2005. Einnig er til score af verkinu sem má sjá hér á pdf formi. Nafn verksins er sótt í þekkta nóvellu Stefans Zweig, Manntafl.
Manntafl (e. The Royal Game) is a MA graduate project from the Roayl Conservatory and the Royal Academy in Den Haag. The piece is a reactive musical performance for two chess players and a marching band. Two chess players play a game of chess and on the man-size chessboard there is a marching band, half of it represents the white players, the other half the black players. The musicians move on the board, kill and get killed depending on how the game of chess evolves. The music is based on algorithmic rules interpreting the rules of chess. On Reykjavík City Cultural Night in August 2005 there was a kind of a demo performance on an outside chess board in Lækjargata, Reykjavík. There is also a score for the piece, which one can see here on the web in a pdf format.
